Women's Volleyball Off to Slow Start

Last season the Stags volleyball team credited a tough schedule at the beginning of the season as a reason for their success in the MAAC, despite the fact they started the season with a record of just 3-5.

This year the story is the same. The Stags began with tough opponents in tournaments in California and Queens, NY. Fairfield was staggered by the nationally ranked opponents they faced and have begun this season with a record of 1-7.

The Stags traveled to San Diego, California for the Aztec Invitational at San Diego State University and dropped all four games they played to San Diego State, No. 12 San Diego, UC-Santa Barbera, and Long Island University.

After those losses, the Stags traveled back home to the east coast for the St. John's Invitational in Queens and lost three out of four games. They defeated NJIT in the final game of the tournament, 3-1 after falling to Virginia Tech, No. 24 Long Beach State and St. John's.

The Stags will play in one final tournament before the MAAC season begins, traveling to Seton Hall in South Orange, NJ to face Seton Hall, Stony Brook, and Penn from Sept. 7-8.
